After Halloween, it’s time to think about Thanksgiving. And since you just spent a couple of hundred (even a thousand?) dollars on last month’s party, this month’s celebration may weigh a little too heavy on you. But Thanksgiving is a tradition and you wouldn’t want to miss out on the opportunity to spend quality time with your friends and family. So with the right budget and strategy, you can enjoy this important occasion saving you from both stress and money.

As with a lot of things, make a list. This will save you plenty of time, money and trouble. Count how many people you’ll be entertaining and decide what exactly you’ll be serving. When you’re sure about your number of guests and menu, you can plan your budget more properly and save yourself a lot of time from doing multiple trips to the store. Surf the internet for food ideas. You’ll be surprised at the number of wonderful recipes online that are not only budget-saving but in fact savory and Thanksgiving-worthy.

Try Alternatives. You may be used to certain things when it comes to your cooking and other entertainment needs, but open your mind and try other things. You may be surprised at how much savings you’ll actually get trying on alternatives, and in fact getting even better results. Sometimes, if not always, the trick is being creative at doing anything at all.

Deals & Coupons. Nothing like deals and coupons to save you precious dollars, no matter how small it may be. Look for coupon search engines online or in your local papers and you’ll be amazed at the savings you’ll get even with just a few dollars. Try some price-matching, too between your favorite store and available deals so you’ll know where to buy your ingredients and other party needs, saving you time and money all at the same time.

Leftovers. Recook your leftovers to save you both time and money from buying or cooking other foods when you still have plenty of food left from last night’s event. Better yet, transform your leftovers into brand new dishes and you’ll have a whole new meal to enjoy with your family or friends. Search online for tips or recipes on how to cook leftovers and you’ll start seeing – and tasting – them in a whole new light.

Thanksgiving is a yearly, beautiful tradition that should be celebrated and enjoyed with your family. Having a tight or limited budget is not an excuse not to celebrate it. All you need is a smart and creative way to plan your Thanksgiving dinner or party and with your friends or family to celebrate it with, nothing is more important.

Happy Thanksgiving!
